Study Abroad Tip: Pack Travel Underwear

Study abroad is a wonderful experience, but laundry on the road can be painful and expensive. Savvy study abroad travelers have learned several strategies to minimize trips to the laundromat.  Today's tip for avoiding laundry: bring three sets of travel underwear instead of regular underwear.

Since you can wear shirts and pants more than once, it is underwear that often drives the decision to do laundry. One solution: purchase three sets of ExOfficioGive-N-Go underwear. According to the ExOfficio web site, Give-N-Go underwear are light weight, air dry quickly, are treated with "Aegis Micro Shield to control odor causing bacteria," and are perfect for travel, especially in"tricky climates." Wear one set of underwear, then at night change to a clean set and wash the worn pair in the sink and dry overnight. They will be ready to pack the next morning. Underwear is available in many sizes for both men and women.

Students who have used travel underwear suggest purchasing three sets rather than two: one to wear, one to wash out in the evening and dry overnight, and one "emergency" set. It saves room in the suitcase for all those important souvenir purchases that you bring back.
